Philadelphia Injury News: SUV Slams Into Day Care Center

In some bad injury and accident related news coming out of Philadelphia, It was reported in WPVI-TV Philadelphia’s online Action News today, December 3, 2009, that a sport utility vehicle smashed into a day care center at 12:15 p.m., today. The car was running from the police. Four children and an employee suffered personal injury, the police reported. All in all, Police were chasing an SUV whose occupants reportedly had just robbed a Family Dollar Store. Two people were arrested.
For their part, ABC Action News reported that Lt. Jeff Duhamell of the Indianapolis police said that there were about 18 children inside the Stepping Stones Child Care building when the SUV crashed into the brick building located on the city’s north side. As an aside if you need a top notch trucking or Philadelphia truck accident attorney then Mark Rosenberg could be your man. For that matter, he can also assist you with things like construction, bus, bike and even bicycle accident as well. He is a leading personal injury attorney overall.
Kara Hardister runs the Stepping Stones Child Care Center. She said the crash sent bricks flying into a room for 3-year-olds just before time to put them down to nap.
40 to 45 children are usually in the building around the noon hour. Today, however, about two dozen on a field trip, at that time, Hardister said. She was quoted as saying, “It’s just senseless, just senseless, that innocent people have to go through this.” Time to find agood truck accident attorney I suppose.

Some Fun Facts About Hawaii

Here are some interesting facts concerning the state of Hawaii: 1. Hawaii is further from any other populated land on earth. It is 2,390 miles from the coast of the mainland of the United States. It is 3,850 miles from Japan. It is 5,280 miles from the Phillipines.
2.The Hawaiian alphabet consists of only 12 letters; A, E, I, O, U, H, K, L, M, N, P, and W.
3.Hawaii has eight main islands: Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island of Hawaii. 4.From the Kure Atoll in the north to the Island of Hawaii in the south, the Hawaiian Archipelago has 130 scattered bits of land, and its length spans about 1,600 miles.
5..Hawaii is the only state in America that grows coffee.
By the way if you are in the state and need a Hawaii Nissan dealership then I do suggest this key resource. Here you can rent a Nissan at a reasonable rate.
6.On August 20th, 1959, Hawaii was admitted as the 50th state of the union.
7.Undersea volcanoes formed the Hawaiian Islands. The earth’s plates moved over the “hot spot” in the ocean floor, and the Islands were born from west to east.
8.All minerals below the ocean belong to the state. However, there are few underground minerals.
Bauxite under Kauai happens to be one of them.
9.The average daytime temperature in July is 82′ F. The average daytime temperature in January is 72′ F. The wind blows from east to west. The highest temperature ever recorded is 96′ F. It reaches 92’F normally only once or twice a year. The lowest temperature under 3000 feet altitude is 56′ F. Temperatures under 60′ F occur usually no more than once a year.
10.Hawaii follows Hawaiian Standard Time. There is no daylight savings time. The time follows two hours behind Pacific Standard Time.
11.Everyone is a minority in Hawaii. Caucasians only make up about 34%; Japanese-American about 32%; Filipino-American about 16% and Chinese-American about 5%. However, most of the population is of mixed of ethnicity. So now you know all about the state, including where to rent a Nissan car.

Kauai Real Estate Volume went up Sharply

In encouraging economic news for the state of Hawaii in general and the county of Kauai in particular, that island;s October sales volume went up almost a full quarter, specificically it went up 24.30 Percent over the sales volume of October 2008. So says Ron Margolis, RA, ABR in his November 2nd, 2009 post on Hawaii Life Real Estate Services blog or site. For his part, he states that if you look at the comparative percentages from the past 4 months of sales year to year, you start to see just how great these October numbers are. “Many economists are saying the worst of this recession is behind us,” he says.
What’s going on? Margolis lists increased affordability, first time home buyer’s credits (for local residents), “supremely low interest rates,” and the sense that the economy is improving. Switching gears for a moment if you requre Kauai Real Estate help I do suggest this specific firm overall. They are great and are centrally based in Lihue.
“Well we’re into a new month, November, and there are two months left to this year. Often times in the “neighbor island” markets (Kauai, Maui, Hawaii, Molokai, Lanai), the fall season is very slow and the market does not pickup until winter when tourism increases, snowbirds arrive, and many mainland residents seek refuge from the cold of winter by traveling to the tropics. This year is a little different,” Margolis says, reciting the real estate trends.

Kauai Sale is largest Real Estate transaction in State

In real estate news, mpvie moghul Peter Guber has sold his huge, 174-acre property on Kauai for $28M. Tara Plantation was sitting on the market for some four years. All in all, the sale was actually the biggest purchase in Hawaii this year. The Tara plantation is a prime piece of real estate located on the garden island of Kauai, on the north shore near the small town of Anahola. In recent years Guber has had some controversy: a feud concerning his alleged domination of beach access to Papaa Bay. In Hawaii you cannot privately own the beach, but some wealthy landowners sometimes try to restrict access to the beach trails which are the key to these beaches, as Guber is alleged to have done. For his part, Mr. Peter Guber is a Los Angeles movie executive. He is chairman and chief executive officer of Mandalay Entertainment Group. Guber also is a professor at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television. He is co-host of the weekly “Shootout” television show on the AMC network. Peter Guber made a fortune from some of the biggest movies of all time. His movies include “Rain Man,” “Batman,” and “The Color Purple.” On the flipside, he was also involved in some true turkey’s such as ‘Caddyshack Part 2′ starring Jackie Mason.
Little is actually known about the buyers of the Kauai property. It is known that the buyers include two limited liability companies, Papaa Bay Ranch LLC and Kauai Beach Properties LLC. Hannah Sirois registered the firms in September. Sirois was the principal broker for Kauai Heritage Properties who represented the buyers in the Tara Plantation transaction. Another good Kauai Real Estate firm in my opinion is Sleeping Giant Realty. State records show a Pennsylvania firm listed Kauai Ae Kai LLC as their sole member. That company in Pennsylvania shows a certified public accountant’s office as its address. Guber was represented in the transaction by Coldwell Banker Bali Hai Realty’s Barbara Sloan and Malia Powers. Guber was also involved in a recent huge real estate transaction which took place in or near the ski resort of Aspen, Colorado.

Los Angeles news:DUI Arrest For Baywatch Star’s Ex

In Los Angeles David Hasselhoff’s ex-wife, Pamela Bach, was arrested this week on suspicion of drunken driving in Los Angeles. Last Saturday night, November 28, 2009, she was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol, just south of U.S. 101 on Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
According to CHP Bach had blood alcohol levels of .14 and .13, a breathalyzer test showed. The legal limit is .08.in California. She was booked at the Van Nuys jail and released. As a breif aside if you find yourself needing a first rate Los Angeles probate attorney then allow me to suggest this law firm. Robert Mansell is simply a leading probate attorney and can assist you in many southern California communities and not only in the Los Angeles city area. Now back to the big story:
In 2007, Bach was charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run. The charges were dropped in an agreement in which was required to pay minor damages to the woman whose car she hit. Bach did not contest a drunken driving charge in August. According to court records she was placed on three years of informal probation
Bach was also required to attend a treatment program. She was required to not drive with any measurable amount of alcohol in her blood. Well, I am sure she has both a good probate and dui attorney.

Bach and David Hasselhoff were married for 16 years. He filed for divorce in 2006. The two met when she appeared in a few episodes of Hasselhoff’s series, “Baywatch.”

She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 24.

Socio-economic Issues In Hawaii Beneath The Surface

Earlier in the month the highly respected publication ‘National Public Radio’ printed a story based on its Weekend Edition Sunday broadcast called ‘Hawaii Is Diverse, But Far From A Racial Paradise’ As someone who lives in Hawaii myself, I found it quite interesting overall. They go on to explain: “First Europeans and then Americans and then Asians” arrived; Osorio says in the piece. “The way I see it — and an increasing number of Hawaiians see it — in exchange, the United States took Hawaii as a possession in 1900 and has held on to us ever since.”
Osorio says that native Hawaiians are marginalized. As it is put in the article; they suffer high incarceration levels, little land ownership and poor education. Osorio points out that, “This is such a different situation than it was in the 19th century, when we were a kingdom. When we had our own government, and when we had one of the highest literacy rates in the entire world.” As an aside if you are looking for a good Hawaii Nissan dealership try King Windward Nissan. They come highly recommended.
Osorio believes that the issues are more a socio-economic problem than a race issue. It is interesting the professor sees only minor racial prejudices. He is quoted again; “but in the end, we never created a systematic or rigorous system of expectations of other people based on race. And we certainly never created a system on which we thought one race was superior to another.”
In regard to the desire of some in the state to create a region for native Hawaiians — like the American Indian reservations on the mainland, the article points out. And do not forget to rent a Nissan if you are visiting Hawaii. Osorio: “I believe [Hawaiians] had the right to create their own nation in the 19th century, and I believe they have the right today to have that restored.”

Former Attorney Gen. Aide Faces Legal Charge

Just got back from sunny San Diego and then Washington and am ready to get blogging. Phil Kline was attorney general and Eric Rucker was Kline’s chief of staff at the time Rucker has been alleged to have violated his professional ethics.
IU wonder if he will need adivorce attorney next. Eric Rucker is facing a complaint filed by the state’s judicial disciplinary administrator. The complaint filed this week alleges that Rucker presented inaccurate details before the Kansas Supreme Court about Kline’s investigation of abortion clinics. And if you require a good San Diego family law attorney then this particular Law Firm may be for you. They do all sorts of family law related cases instead of being just divorce attorney or lawyer only. They can also assist you with various tax issues if you reside in the Kansas City area and not just in Overland Park exclusively.
The complaint further alleges that Rucker used statistics he knew were inaccurate to support the investigation during his arguments before a district court judge.
A judicial ethics panel will hold a hearing into the charges against Rucker in April. The panel will decide if Rucker violated professional ethics. If he is disciplined, the Supreme Court will determine punishment. It could range from a slap on the hand to disbarment.
Rucker has been unavailable for comment since charges were filed on Monday. Phil Kline is now teaching law at a Virginia university. He said the complaint reveals more about the motives of the Supreme Court than it does about Rucker. You may need a good Washington divorce lawyer if you are in the Northwest, if so then I suggest this firm for family law cases in the state of Washington,
Kline was quoted in an article written by David Klepper for the Kansas City Star. In the online post on November 25, 2009, Kline reportedly said, “The court has silenced a key witness to criminal activity by Kansas abortion providers and thwarted a legitimate investigation and prosecution for violation of Kansas law,” Kline wrote in an e-mail. “Mr. Rucker has served Kansas honorably and honestly.… ”. I suppose some could argue that this is an issue anywhere in the country, whether it be San Diego, Washington or wherever.

Miami Commissioner Pleads Guilty To Charge

In Florida and Washington criminal defense related news, Angel Gonzalez has entered a plea of guilty to a misdemeanor charge. According to the charge, Gonzalez used his position to get his daughter a job with a construction company that she was not required to even show up for. This is the guy who appoints the Florida District Attorney? I wonder if the top Attorney general in Washington will get involved? Speaking of that, if you are in need of a top flank Washington criminal defense attorney then I can suggest this firm. According to an article written by Miami Herald writer, David Ovalle, dated November 16, 2009, titled, Disgraced Miami commissioner pleads guilty to the criminal misdemeanor charge, the head of Delant Construction, Juan Delgado, hired Gonzalez’s daughter, Elizabeth Gonzalez, and payed her $500 per week. She was paid $47,000 between July 2004 and May 2005 for doing no work. Elizabeth, who is 28 years old, faces no charges. As an aside if you do need a Florida criminal attorney then I should suggest David GArvin. Simply put, he is a leading tax and criminal related attorney for Miami, Fort Lauderdale and the state of Florida generally. Although prosecutors were unable to establish a direct pay-off to Delant Construction, Gonzalez did vote favorably for the company in his role as commissioner.
Meanwhile, Juan Delgado, who was formerly leader of the Latin Builders Association, is facing charges of fraud in another otherwise unconnected Florida related criminal corruption case, was granted immunity for his cooperation in the Gonzalez case. Wow, these guys will really keep the criminal defense related attorney folk busy tight.

Atlanta News Cites Hot Tub Injury Study

I just got in from kauai to the vacation rentals but in Atlanta’s online news site (cbsatlanta.com) printed an article quoting a statistic that 6,600 people suffer various forms of serious injury in hot tubs each year! This is a major domestic issue. Head injury is very common, for example in these violent incidents. No wonder so many folks are hiring a lawyer these days. I notice there are many of these in kauai vacation rentals for example and on the island of Kauai generally, where there a lot, not just in the vacation rentals but in regular domestic homes overall. In any event, the article called, Hot Tubs Hurt 6,600 People Each Year, was posted November 3, 2009, and was featured in the health column. San Diego is also noted for the plethera of these.
The article cites a new study by the Center for Injury Research and Policy. The report’s shocking findings are that the number of hot tub injuries doubled from 1990 to 2007!
Slipping and falling caused half of the injuries. 73% of the people hurt were older than 16 years old, the study reported. Cuts on the legs, serious cuts on the feet, and cuts on the head made up most of the problems along with head injury. Lara McKenzie, the author of the study, warned that children suffer near drownings, and that fact needs to be made aware of, as well. 6 to 12 year old children were also apt to be injured jumping or diving into hot tubs. As an aside if you require a tip top San Diego domestic violence lawyer then this is your man. He can help with criminal defense attorney situations along with the earlier mentioned domestic violence lawyer related stuff as well. He is simply one of San Diego best lawyer for these types of cases overall.
McKenzie and the other authors recommended using slip-resistant surfacing in and around hot tub. It is also important, they said to limit exposure to 10 to 15 minutes. The tub should not exceed 104 degrees. Hot tubs should always be kept covered with a locking mechanism when they are not being used.
McKenzie said also, that parents should consider using fencing or barriers to keep children out of the hot tub area, and they should set forbidding jumping and diving. They should also comply with suction cover standards as this can cause accident and serious injury.
The CBSAtlanta article also said that, “The study was based on data in the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System, which is operated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.” It was published in the online issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

Economic Growth to Be Inhibited by Unemployment and Tight Credit

I just got back to San Francisco. All in all, I had a great trip as I had to see a tattoo laser removal specialist in San Jose. and wanted to report on this: According to Federal Reserve Chairs man Ben Bernanke, the growth of the U.S. economy will remain limited for the foreseeable future because of the unemployment levels and tight credit. Bernanke pledged to do what he could to keep the interest rates down in an effort to help stabilize the American economy. The latest U.S. Labor Department report shows that unemployment had hit a 10.2% high in October 2009. According to the experts, this is the highest unemployment rate that the U.S. has experienced in the last 26
years. The United States had experienced a staggering loss of 190,000 million from the payrolls of employers across the nation. This was based on figures of 22 straight months of documented job losses at the time of the report. Incidentially if you need a good one then I suggest that you do a search online as they are one of the vesy best if you need a good ergonomic office chair or two. I do suggest them for a plethera of different office chairs overall. Switching gears for a moment, if you require a Laser Tattoo Removal San Francisco then you may wish to choose this one as he can help with a wide array of different laser tattoo removal procedures.
Bernanke also states the central bank will be watching the declining U.S. dollar as efforts are made to stimulate the economy. As a side note, a major job Forum Debate is to Be Held in Washington. According to a White House spokesman, President Obama and U.S. business leaders will hold a job forum on job creation for the United States. The job forum is to be held on December 3rd. The goal of the forum is for small business owners, financial experts and chief executives to exchange ideas on how to create jobs for Americans.
The job forum will be highlighting President Obama’s response to the current unemployment concerns from his chair at the highest office and is timed so that it will be ahead of the 2010 elections. Economic growth has recently been on the uprise however the number of unemployed Americans is at an all time high.
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill and other committee chairs state that the current unemployment levels are unacceptable and are also determined to do what they can to pass new measures that will help spark job growth for Americans. The United States is reportedly just beginning to climb out of the worst recession since the Great Depression.
