Elimanating Indoor Air Pollution
We all know about pollution from used cars and the like, but what about your home? Here on oahu it is a bit of an issue overall. It isn’t difficult to eiminate some of the sources of indoor pollution in your home. Using natural products like vinegar and baking soda for cleaning are healthy, low-cost alternatives. I do use some toxic cleaners such as bleach, but try to do so sparingly and with care, and only in well-ventilated places. According to the E.P.A, paraffin is a by-product of petroleum. Paraffin emits 11 toxins, 2are above the excess cancer risk. Since paraffin candles can release toxins into the air, it seems an easy place to make a healthy change on the whole. Allowing me to switch gears for a quick moment, if you are on the island of Oahu and you find yourself needing a top flank Oahu used cars dealership which specializes in the outstanding Infinity model line, I can recommend this resource. They specialize in such used cars on the Hawaii island of Oahu. Now back to the main story at hand:
In reading up on the humble but healthy soy candle, which was a new product to me, I learned that they can last up to twice as long as a paraffin wax candle. After trying one I was pleased that it did not emit soot and blacken the jar I had it in. I also like that we can produce soy here in the United States, reducing the importation of foreign petroleum. In my house I tend to have various large pillar candles and also the white pillar candles but i beleieve that I will start adding soy wax candles to the mix very soon.
