I believe that Carla’s wedding turned out to be such a joy for everyone because she threw convention and expectation out the window. Everyone in the wedding party was encouraged to wear whatever they wanted to. No, the bridesmaids didn’t match. One of the kids wore jeans and athletic shoes. The flowers came from the supermarket. Carla’s sisters made all the food. There was no DJ, just cds that people brought to dance to.
But I can tell you that we all had a fantastic time. Carla was the most radiant bride ever. Jeff was adorable, as were the kids. The food was absolutely fantastic. Everyone felt a part of the event, which had a sincerity and purity that stands out in everyone’s memory. When they are young they need things like tote and pink diaper bags or for that matter messenger diaper bags and the like. The leather diaper bag although they are not quite as popular as the pink diaper bags varieties as such.
After Carla and Jeff said the vows that they had written themselves, Carla read from something she had written to the children. She told them that they were precious to her, and that would work just as hard to make them happy as she would to make their dad happy. She told them that she understood no one could ever be as important to them as their own mother.
She went on to tell each one what she admired about them, what made her proud. She noted the 14-year-old’s dedication and gentleness to his dog. She told him how much she enjoyed watching him play baseball, and how fun and funny he could be. She did the same with the other two. Then she gave each of them a ring to commemorate the occasion. The rings had semiprecious stones in each kid’s favorite color.
I also believe that it was Carla’s unbridled pleasure in making sure that everyone enjoy the event, that made her one of the happiest and most beautiful brides, ever. Just remember those pink diaper bags you know.

Denver Driver Hits Police Car on I-25

I just returned from Washington by auto, luckily no car accident involved in that one. Kieran Nicholson writing for the Denver Post, published an article online on December 2, 2009, that begins; Driver hits police car stopped on I-25. All in all, Kieran reports that yesterday afternoon at 1:05 p.m., on I-25, a driver rear-ended a police car. The squad car was stopped at the site of an accident, according to the police. The police officer in question was not in his police car when the driver hit the cruiser in this tragic accident. The driver sustained minor injuries.The first accident that the squad car was stopped for involved a red Saturn SUV and a black Jeep Cherokee. It occurred in the southbound lanes of I-25 near 136th Avenue, according to a Westminster Police Spokesman, Trevor Materasso.Materasso explained that the police car was parked on the side of the highway. It had its over-head lights flashing. The driver of a 1989 Jeep Wrangle hit it from behind, Materasso said. Materasso said the Wrangler rolled on its side after hitting the police car. The driver of the Jeep was cut out of his vehicle by firefighters. I guess someone might need an attorney for this one.
There were no serious injuries in either accident, Materasso said. The accidents did not require the highway to be shut down.Also according to the Post, last month three Colorado state troopers, in two separate accidents, were injured while outside of their police vehicles as they attended to accidents on icy roads.
In November, two of the three troopers were seriously injured in accidents occurring during the same weekend. Spokesman Materasso said that drivers passing accidents should slow down to give emergency workers plenty of room. All in all this is becoming a pretty big problem over here in Washington state as well.

Philadelphia Injury News: SUV Slams Into Day Care Center

In some bad injury and accident related news coming out of Philadelphia, It was reported in WPVI-TV Philadelphia’s online Action News today, December 3, 2009, that a sport utility vehicle smashed into a day care center at 12:15 p.m., today. The car was running from the police. Four children and an employee suffered personal injury, the police reported. All in all, Police were chasing an SUV whose occupants reportedly had just robbed a Family Dollar Store. Two people were arrested.
For their part, ABC Action News reported that Lt. Jeff Duhamell of the Indianapolis police said that there were about 18 children inside the Stepping Stones Child Care building when the SUV crashed into the brick building located on the city’s north side. In real estate news, mpvie moghul Peter Guber has sold his huge, 174-acre property on Kauai for $28M. Tara Plantation was sitting on the market for some four years. All in all, the sale was actually the biggest purchase in Hawaii this year. The Tara plantation is a prime piece of real estate located on the garden island of Kauai, on the north shore near the small town of Anahola. In recent years Guber has had some controversy: a feud concerning his alleged domination of beach access to Papaa Bay. Peter Guber made a fortune from some of the biggest movies of all time. LA Census Report 38 % Drop In Homeless

In somewhat controversial news, The Los Angeles Times ran a story today, November 11, 2009, called Backlash over report showing a big drop in L,A,’s homeless population, and it was written by Cara Mia DiMassa. Homeless advocates have been writing, blogging, and tweeting in frustration over a January census, which indicated that the number of homeless people in the region had actually dropped 68,808 in 2007 to 42,694, despite the current economic meltdown.
These advocates say these figure are just not correct. They fear this report could cause them to lose funding when the need is actually very great. After all, many of these homeless are veterans and some have suffered personal injury, etc.
